PCS-850
HIGH BUILD EPOXY FINISH
DESCRIPTION: PCS-850 Finish is a VOC compliant, two component, cross-linked epoxy composition. It is designed to be used as a finish coat on steel, concrete and masonry surfaces in conjunction with various Permite primers. PCS-850 may be applied by brush, roller, or spray over properly prepared surfaces, and it is compatible with most existing coatings. Pressure washing may also provide suitable surface preparation depending upon job conditions. PCS-850 cures to a hard, tough, abrasion-resistant film.
USES: Especially suited as a general maintenance coating for pulp and paper mills, chemical plants, power plants, tank farms, water and sewage treatment facilities, mining operations, and marine applications.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR: Immersion service or splash and spillage of very strong solvents or concentrated acids and alkalis.
SURFACE PREPARATION: STEEL: Remove all oil and grease by solvent cleaning in accordance with SSPC-SP1 and/or proprietary degreaser. Minimal recommended surface preparation is hand or power tool cleaning per SSPC-SP2 or SP3 followed by recommended spot priming. CONCRETE: Remove laitance, surface hardeners or curing compounds by abrasive blasting or other means. Concrete must be cured 28 days prior to coating application.
MIXING: Mix four volumes of PCS-850 finish base to one volume of PCS-850 finish hardener. It is not necessary to mix the entire kit at one time; however, if less than a full kit is to be mixed, each component must be thoroughly mixed prior to use. Partially filled containers should be closed tightly.
APPLICATION: Flush all equipment thoroughly with Reducer #76 before use. AIRLESS: Minimum of 30:1 Pump ratio, .019 tip with 3/8" I.D. fluid line. Adjust fluid pressure for proper atomization. Higher ratio pump and/or larger diameter lines may be required when more than 50 ft. of material line is required. Shield long lines form direct sunlight in hot weather. CONVENTIONAL SPRAY: DeVilbiss MBC or JGA gun with 78 to 765 air cap, E fluid tip and needle. Use a pressure pot with separate atomizing air and fluid pressure regulators; 50-70 PSI atomizing air and 10-15 PSI pot pressure. For most applications, one coat at 5 mils dry film thickness is sufficient.
CAUTIONS: Flammable mixture. Contains solvents. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Use only with adequate ventilation. AVOID PROLONGED BREATHING OF VAPORS. AVOID PROLONGED OR REPEATED CONTACT WITH SKIN. Keep containers closed when not in use. If used in confined areas, observe the following precautions to prevent hazards of fire or explosions or damage to health: (1) circulate adequate fresh air continuously during application and drying; (2) use fresh air masks and explosion-proof equipment; (3) prohibit all flames, sparks, welding, and smoking near area.
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately. For eye contact, flush with lots of water. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
See material safety data sheets for full precautions prior to use.
